4 Self Care Mommy Activities for Balance & Peace

Self Care Mommy Activities that promotes Balance & Peace

How to Balance Motherhood with everything else!

I am a career woman by day, Mommy of two and wife by night and blogger when all them have gone to bed.

I notice that I can get a bit crazy, over emotional, stresses if things don’t go the way I planned or even worst a grumpy momma to my toddlers.

Modern Day Motherhood includes a lot of responsibilities. One of which is being a side hustler, I know moms whom write books on the side of their day jobs, hustle make up, life insurance or diet supplements all to make a better living for themselves and their family.

It’s a lot, I know! Working full time and being a part time blogger takes away from my mental decompression and adds to the stress. It takes more mental effort to be a blogger than it is my day job, that’s for sure.

I don’t know how Mommy bloggers juggle all of this.

The one thing I do know is to not compromise my happiness and wellbeing for anything that can wait. I say that because a lot of us moms strive for perfection, make sure the laundry is all done, folded, pressed and put away, make sure all the dishes are done, dried and ready for use the next day, be sure to clean the entire house from top to bottom and the list goes on and on, when those things can wait.

If you are getting to cranky because it’s time for you to relax, do it and stop doing stuff. Allow yourself time to mentally, emotionally and physically regroup, even for 10-15 minutes at the end of your day.

I am 4 years new to motherhood, what I have learned throughout my journey is: Me Time is Sacred and perfection is unrealistic.

Having  Me Time is sacred to the way I talk to my children, the way I respond to my partner and overall atmosphere of my household.

Moms have a powerful energy we carry around us that we need to keep sacred and nurtured, otherwise we are doomed to raising unhappy children and an unhappy marriage.

Below, I am sharing my Top 4 Ways to keep that Mom energy sacred & can be done within the comfort of your own home.

Note: Dad or a sitter needs to be enlisted to help with looking after the kids or you can do these below after everyone’s gone to bed!

4 Self Care Mommy Activities that encourages Balance & Peace

1.) Soak in a Bathe.
Taking a bath after a long day of work and managing your household is the best feeling. Baths immediately put you in a tranquil state and promotes overall stress relieving chemicals. I usually add Epsom Salt to my bath for the qualities within the salt promotes amazing healing results to the body.

Baths allow you to reflect on what you are grateful for. How your day went, what you could improve on, what activities to do your children for the following day or weekend.

Taking baths allow you to think about everything, giving yourself space to critically think about problems to help with coming up with solutions.

2.) Foot Soak.
This is my ultimate favorite, a good foot soak. Just like above, I use epsom salt and add an extra antibacterial agent: tea tree oil. It smells amazing and it’s easier to do than a whole bath.

Grab a bucket that you can soak your feet in, fill it tall enough to your ankles with hot/warm water so that it doesn’t cool down too fast.

I usually do this before bed, that way it helps with removing callous build up.

Then soak away. Soaking my feet in this, makes my problems/stresses melt away!

3.) Face Mask.
Making time for face masks is one of the best ways you can take care of your skin. I am in my early thirties and notice that my skin is not how it used to be 10 years ago. I have to take the time to take care of it, like getting the right products to use and actually take the time to do it.

Face masks is one of the items I use once a week to make me feel good about myself and promote self care and most importantly, to take care of my skin.

Face masks are anti-aging activities that help your skin stay supple, promote cellular turn over and lessens the appearance of lines.

You are not only taking care of yourself mentally by doing face masks, you are also taking care of your skin!

4.) Journal.

Do you journal now? Is journaling something foreign to you?

Well this is a best mental decompressing activity that help release stress, solve problems and help gain some insight in our chaos filled minds.

Get a journal and a pen, start writing, write about anything, about your day, what were it’s high’s and it’s low’s.

You will be surprised with what comes out.

It’s my form of therapy, it helps with understanding situations, inspiring action for better results and promotes goal achievement.

The act of writing goals down, signals the subconscious part of the brain of something that needs to get done. During your day to day activities, ideas sprout because you’ve planted a seed of your goal.

The subconscious mind is always listening and is listening even more when you write down your thoughts. This process can help you achieve your goals by coming up with plans to achieve it, thanks to the power of the subconscious mind.

Get writing ladies!

Making time for yourself is key to being able to love, nurture and care for the people dearest to you. Motherhood is an invaluable journey that will test us, prepare us and mold us into women for our children, be sure to be in a state of positivity during this journey.

Our children see us as role models, be a role model to them that you can be proud of and take time to get yourself centered on a more frequent basis so that you are able to be a present and loving parent and partner.
