3 Positive Mommy Mindset

Actionable Tips for a Positive Mommy Mindset

There have been countless times in my life where Ive felt like crap or just simply down and out. This feeling increased after I became a mom.

Perhaps, it comes with the chemical imbalance in my body and suffering from mild Post Partum-Depression.  Whatever the cause, when I feel these negative feelings, it’s no joke.

Feelings of not being a good mom or things aren’t happening as quickly as I’d like, my relationships aren’t as fulfilling, or there is a void that seems to get bigger and bigger as the day pass.

It’s tough to stay consistently positive or motivated. Especially when we start comparing ourselves to what we believe we should be at or worst, compare ourselves to other people’s success.

The good thing is that this is completely normal. We are human beings, feeling down or sadness is apart of our making. The key to this is understanding that all feelings, including sadness is all temporary and eventually pass with time.

Welcome it and let it pass... to encourage its passing below are some tips I’ve used to shift my mindset, mood and overall feeling.

3 Actionable Tips for a Positive Mindset

1. Exercise
Blood flow and increased endorphins creates a series of chemicals that promote happiness and peace.

If it’s been sometime since you’ve exercised, then do something easy like a brisk walk or yoga stretches at first.

You don’t need to be an expert, as long as you get some blood flow going, you’re on the right track.

Exercise at least 3-4 times a week, 10 minutes of working out makes a big difference in shifting your mindset to become more happy, productive and healthy mommy.

There are many free online exercise resources to follow, that range from beginner to expert levels.

Look up YouTube tutorials or even Instagram fitness pages!

2. Be Grateful
Having a mindset of gratitude is hard if you are not used to thinking this way, but this shift in behavior helps with understanding what to focus on.

Attention on what you are grateful for, creates more of that specific thing in your life.

To practice gratitude, do the following...

On a daily basis, think about at least three things you’re grateful , once in the morning and once in the evening before bed.

Placing your attention on the things you are happy about, creates happy chemicals in the brain that decrease stress hormones and allows you to focus on the positives in your life.

According to Dr. Wayne Dyer, Gratitude is the gateway to manifesting the life you want.

This kind of awareness shift will promote an increase of blessings, love and overall happiness in your life.

3. Journal
I’m an avid journaler, I usually journal about my goals, what is going in my life and my feelings.

To make a shift in your mindset, journal about your goals, the things you’d like to achieve, things you want to have.

What would you like to achieve in 6 months, 1 year, 5 or 10 years from now?

Come up with those goals, write about what your life would look like if you achieved your goal, feel it, smell and taste this reality.

The concept of writing out your goals and what it would be like to achieve & have it in your life is to have a visual of what life would be like.

This simple exercise will get your mind shifted into a place of excitement, enthusiasm and the magic of possibility.

That’s the goal, when you are in the thick of negative feelings, remind yourself of the magic of possibility, the magic of life & the magic of what happens when you focus on what you love & your goals.

-Conclusion-
Becoming aware and accepting that it’s ok to feel sad or down is the first step to shifting your overall mindset.

Accept that this is a part of being alive, you will experience ups and downs of life & don’t judge yourself for it, it is what it is.

Now it’s the matter of knowing how to change it and what to do when you get in a funk, Exercise, Be Grateful & Journal.

I hope these tips will help you understand yourself more and encourage for a shift in your mindset.

Remember that, these feelings are normal, don’t judge yourself for it, just do something about it. Sending you love and good vibes!
